Second Medical Opinion

If you need a Second Medical Opinion on a complex condition or are struggling to obtain a diagnosis, this service will connect you with medical specialists. They'll discuss your concerns, review your current diagnosis and treatment plan and, where required, a medical specialist will provide their recommendations.

Your experienced case manager will be with you throughout the whole process, helping to shape the conversation that help ensure you receive the most effective and appropriate recommendations. They can provide assistance with best next steps to improve your recovery or help you make a more informed decision about your proposed treatment plan. They're there to guide and support you for as long as you need.

The service is aimed at the evaluation of cases involving serious or complex diseases. The most frequent types of cases are: oncological (cancer), health problems requiring surgery, neurological diseases, serious pediatric diseases and rheumatological diseases, among others.

As an American Fidelity customer, you get unlimited access to this service at no additional cost.

How does it work?

Complete the form and your experienced case manager will then contact you to explain the process.

  • 1Gathering your information:

    From the moment you contact us, your Case Manager will start the process of gathering the necessary information about your case.

  • 2Review of Medical Records:

    A Clinical Committee will perform an initial review of the medical records and other documents you provide.

  • 3Expert Selection:

    The Clinical Committee will begin the process of selecting experienced international medical specialists in the relevant pathology.

  • 4Case analysis:

    Your Case Manager will send your case to the selected specialists and maintain telephone contact in order to discuss the specifics of the case with you (and with your treating physician, if desired).

What we don't treat: Chest pain, shortness of breath, severe abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, thoughts of suicide or self-harm, confusion, loss of consciousness, severe infection, severe pain, suspected stroke, seizures, pregnancy complications, high fever in an unwell infant.
